Overview

We are seeking entry-level, full-time, Flow Cytometry Technologist I to join our BSL2 core flow cytometry lab team at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. The primary duty of the FACS Technologist is to provide high quality flow cytometry service and support to Whitehead Institute Investigators and the Boston research community.

Responsibilities

We are seeking entry-level, full-time, Flow Cytometry Technologist I to join our BSL2 core flow cytometry lab team at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. The primary duty of the FACS Technologist is to provide high quality flow cytometry service and support to Whitehead Institute Investigators and the Boston research community.

The Technologist I will be responsible for performing cell sorting on our BD FACSAria SORP. The Technologist I will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting on our high speed cell sorter and our three benchtop analyzers: the BD LSRII SORP, and two BD FACSCaliburs, including one with an HTS. Additional administrative and operational duties may be assigned as is needed.  All duties will be performed in accordance with the Whitehead Institute’s behavioral standards, safety standards, and mission.

 

Qualifications

·      Proficiency with PC and MAC platforms and commonly used software such as Microsoft Office;

·      A Bachelor’s Degree in biological or physical sciences or a related discipline;

·      0-1 years flow cytometry experience in clinical, industry or academia;

·      Cell sorting experience is preferred but not required (training will be provided);

·      The candidate should be flexible, possess strong problem-solving and written and verbal communication skills, and be detail-oriented;

·      Be able to work with minimal supervision on evenings and weekends with a diverse group of people in a service oriented environment.
